I can honestly not hold back my laughter when I watch this video, to be honest I had to share it with my friends. Eventhough the whole "emo" scene isn't my thing I have to defend them on this one. I feel as though these newsreporters (obviously from the midwest) are doing nothing but filling parents heads with propaganda and just giving them one more thing to worry about. I am sure that there are emo kids who take part in self-injry but in the same respect I wouldn't be surprised if there was a popular cheerleader out there who also self mutilated. This is absurd that this county is taking Myspace quizzes seriously-who fills those things out anyway?
I wish someone would shake these people out there in the mid-west who have no idea what they are saying. I actually do wonder if they are ignorant and dont really know that being "EMO" is not like that, or they do and are just doing it for the dramatic effect of their news report. Either way, i think that something like this sends such a horrible, and overly dramatic message to schools and parents of kids who may just like different music and wearing dark clothes.. I think that if anything, this news report just gave kids who could potentially be suicidal, the means to go check out this new site that teaches you how to cut yourself. I honestly believe that some people have nothing better to do then make miniscule ideas, bigger problems then they really are. It really makes me wonder the relevance and how anyone can take seriously the fact that these are the people cutting themselves and committing suicide, no one else in highschool, just lets look at these poor kids who look a bit different? Ridiculous! but amusing.. not to mention these "EMO" kids are probably laughing there asses of at this.
I honestly did not know that being "emo" was becoming such a problem in the United States. Back in my high school there was a couple of kids that you could defintaly say where emo. But the video shows a cop giving characteristics as if emo kids where criminals. I guess if law enforcement is cracking down on it, its becoming a big problem.
